Capitalist at Large: Reflections of an International Entrepreneur $24.95 $12.95

Capitalist at Large chronicles entrepreneur Jim Jameson's 35-year career building companies in developing and formerly communist countries and details the unique perspective on the world he gained as International President of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) and during a stint as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Trade Development in the George H.W. Bush administration. It tells of friendships with revolutionary heroes and domestic entrepreneurs in the emerging Soviet bloc, where he privatized a Polish publishing house after communism fell, and in Asia, where he helped launch an online bookseller in China.

Throughout these experiences, Jameson acknowledges shortcomings of free market economics, while remaining confident that such markets offer the best chance for increased human prosperity. Interspersed with his business and international musings are "interludes" about the intellectual and spiritual journey that shaped his life decisions and personal success.

Capitalist at Large will appeal to current and aspiring businesspeople and anyone seeking to understand opportunities and challenges posed by the increasingly interdependent world economy.

Most importantly, the book makes the case for an optimistic view of human progress, undeterred by economic and geopolitical setbacks of the past few years. Hardback, 276 pages. List price, $24.95; Amazon price, not available, Laissez Faire price, not available; our price $19.95. For the time being, we are offering a special discount we call the "Tom Larson discount." Left-wing writer, Larson, wrote a very nasty review of the book, so we thought we'd offer a special discount.

"... a fascinating perspective on global events of the last half century."
David Nott, President, The Reason Foundation

"Jim Jameson is an unusual combination of idealist and capitalist. He has done more for the image of the American businessman in the many countries in which he has founded enterprises than powerful U.S. corporations, because he has always stayed personally involved. His imprint is charming, strong, optimistic and indomitable. He has a genius for spotting opportunities before anyone else does. A constant traveler, he has an insatiable desire to understand cultures other than his own. In Capitalist at Large, he tells his story with disarming frankness and modesty.
Gordon Graham, CEO, retired, Butterworths Publishing
